𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐛 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝟒-𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞. Led by Hollywood literary and talent manager Marilyn R. Atlas, co-author of Dating Your Character, and award-winning director and acting coach Walid Chaya, actors develop a compelling character and write a 1–2 minute micro-short script designed to showcase their strengths on camera. The program also includes feedback from a special guest judge—an industry writer or director from film and television. Using exercises from Marilyn’s book Dating Your Character, you’ll explore your character psychologically, emotionally, and physically, then shape that character into a short script that can realistically be produced with minimal locations and a small cast.
