If you’ve ever wanted to create your own role instead of waiting for one, the Character to Short Film Writing Lab is your chance to make it happen. Starting May 6, this 4-week online acting class helps actors build an original character and turn it into a short film they can actually produce and perform.
Led by literary manager Marilyn R. Atlas and acting coach Walid Chaya, this program blends actor training with storytelling—giving you real tools to stand out in auditions and take control of your career.
Through guided exercises, you’ll develop a fully realized character, shape a compelling story, and write a 1–2 minute script designed to showcase your strengths on camera. You’ll also receive feedback from industry guests, similar to a casting director workshop experience.
Whether you’re taking an online acting class, working on audition tips, or learning how to book roles, creating your own material is one of the most powerful ways to get noticed.
